Today kicked off with a quick revision of the OSI model before diving straight into networking protocols. We got hands-on experience with some labs, which made the content much easier to grasp.

It was an intense day, packed with new concepts ranging from SNMP fundamentals to getting familiar with Wireshark. I completed two labs—one as extra material after finishing the first one early.
I also decided to install my own Kali Linux virtualbox

Even though I’m starting to get a handle on things, the sheer amount of numbers and unfamiliar concepts can be overwhelming. I’m dedicating some time after class to review everything, and I’m realizing just how much there is still to learn.

I also decided to install my own Kali Linux on VirtualBox so I can connect to the TryHackMe rooms and do some self-study. It feels good to be setting up my own environment and taking control of my learning outside of class.

In the future, we’ll be working with software like Snort and NetFlow Analyzer. I’m really looking forward to learning how to install open-source tools, as I’ve tried before but struggled to figure it out on my own.

Today, I also had to spend a lot of time reviewing concepts, so I didn’t get to continue my Metasploit studies. I did manage to do some vulnerability scanning, though.

On a lighter note, today was our first day working in groups, which was a lot of fun! It gave me a chance to get to know my classmates better.
